Campus Policies

School doors are opened at 7:10. Please do not leave your child unattended prior to 7:10 AM. Students report directly to their grade level classroom.  The cafeteria is open 7:10-7:30 for students who wish to purchase breakfast.

Classes are dismissed at 2:50 for grades K-5.  1-5 students exit through the front doors.  Kinder pick-up is at door 8 (near gym) on the south side of the building.  Pre-K dismissal is at 2:35. Pre–K pick up is at door 3 on the south side of the building. Drivers should display carpool sign with student name.  Students who are not picked up by 3:00 are supervised in the front office area.   Parents must come into the office and sign out their student. The front doors are locked at 3:15.

The YMCA After School Program is our afterschool care option this year.  Student care is available from 2:45—6:30.  Pick-up is at door 8 (near gym) on the south side of the building. Program details can be found on the YMCA Dallas website.

Please fill out a background check if you plan to attend any school activities.  Background Check

Visitors are required to obtain a visitors badge by presenting a driver's license or government issued id.   

Parent/child lunch—special guest tables have been set aside to allow the student and parent room to enjoy lunch.  Please begin and conclude lunch within the same time period as his/her class.  Visitors must remain in the cafeteria, please do not go to the classroom. For the safety of students, your child’s friends may not accompany him/her at the guest tables.

Parking lot/driveway– if you need to get out of your car, park in a designated space or use the church parking lot. Please stay in your car in the carpool lines and display carpool sign.

Every effort should be made to make sure students are in school daily and on time.  If your child is absent, a written note  or email  is required within 3 days of absence.  The note should include child’s name, date of absence, reason for absence and parent signature.   Email: rojasgrimaldoj@cfbisd.edu

State law dictates that students must attend school 90% of the required school days.   

• Absences that count toward the 90% rule:
  • Absence unverified (truancy, non-school activities and vacations)
  • Absence verified by written note
• Absences exempt from 90% rule if the student makes up all work and written note is submitted:   
  • Religious holidaysDocumented health-care appointments
  • Medical-based excused absences with valid documentation
  • Activities related to obtaining US citizenship
  • Any other court-ordered activity

All medications, including cough drops, must be sent to the clinic to be administered by the nurse. Parents must complete a medication permission form and send the medication in the original container.

Dress Code - Students are expected to be appropriately attired following the CFB dress code policies (shorts/skirts at about mid-thigh). Detailed information may be found on the district website. Dress Code

Friday Kent T-Shirt Day - Students are encouraged to wear a Kent t-shirt or school colors (red and white) to show their Cardinal spirit.  T-shirts can be purchased through PTA.

Please do not distribute birthday invitations at school. Due to food allergies, baked items such as cupcakes are not allowed. We encourage you to bring goodie bags with non-edible items for your child’s celebration to be distributed by the teacher at the end of the day.   

Lost and found is located in the hall outside the cafeteria. Please label all of your student’s coats, backpacks and lunch boxes so they can be returned to them.   

Email and Parent Square are great ways to contact your child’s teacher.  Remember, teachers are busy with students during the day. Teachers typically check their email before and after school. Please be aware that teachers may not respond the same day. You may also write a note or call the office to leave a message.

As a general rule students are not allowed to call home for forgotten items.  Please help your child to remember to bring everything they need every morning.  Office staff will receive forgotten lunches and will place them on a designated table in the cafeteria for your child to pick up.

Please make carpool and other after school arrangements prior to coming to school each day.  If you call during the school day, we cannot guarantee the message will be received prior to dismissal.
